It's New Every Time: Oh say can you see.. all the 4th July posts?

Yep, I am jumping into the bandwagon and making a 4th July post despite having no personal connection to America. Now wait, before you roll your eyes and go back to Facebook, let me at least explain why I'm making this post!
You see, I wasn't going to make a post about the 4th July, but as I was picking a film to watch before bed, I remembered that one of my top 4 favourite films is the perfect 4th July film! Some of you might have heard of The Patriot, starring Mel Gibson, Heath Ledger and Jason Isaacs. I watched it for the first time around 2009, and I wouldn't have watched it if it wasn't for my dad; he really wanted to watch it because he liked it so much, but no one else wanted to. As we were trying to pick another film, the rest of the family drifted off to sleep, and my dad managed to convince me to give it a go. Ever since that day, it has been my favourite film. The acting is great, which is to be expected with such big stars playing the main roles. The plot is interesting, and the fact that it is based on an actual event makes it even better, as you feel like you're learning something by watching the film. Despite the fact that it's a somewhat "old" film, the pace of it grips you in such a way that you don't notice the low quality of films from the time.
So if you have nothing to do and would like to learn a bit more about the American revolution, or just be entertained, I would definitely recommend The Patriot to you!
Let me know your thoughts on it!
